Our Story
Active Adventures Australia began as a dream shared by two passionate outdoor enthusiasts who met while rock climbing in the Blue Mountains in 2007. Marcus Reid and Sarah Chen discovered their shared vision of creating authentic adventure experiences that showcase Australia's incredible natural diversity while respecting indigenous culture and environmental sustainability.
What started as weekend adventures with friends quickly evolved into a professional operation when they realized the need for genuine, small-group experiences led by locals who truly understood Australia's unique landscapes. Our first official tour was a three-day Great Ocean Road adventure combining surfing lessons, coastal hiking, and wildlife encounters with only six participants.
Fifteen years later, we've guided over 12,000 adventurers from around the world while maintaining our commitment to small groups, environmental stewardship, and authentic connections with Australia's natural wonders. Every expedition reflects our founding belief that the best adventures happen when preparation meets spontaneity in some of Earth's most spectacular settings.
Today, Active Adventures Australia operates across seven Australian states, partnering with local indigenous communities, conservation organizations, and fellow adventure operators who share our values of respect, safety, and genuine connection to the land that makes Australia truly extraordinary.
